pH and HARDNESS test
pH is a measure of acidity or. alkalinity of water. Lower values indicate water acidity, higher alkalinity, and pH 7 means neutrality. A result of less than 6.5 pH means that the water is not drinkable and is also corrosive to metal plumbing. Water with a pH value above 8.5 can leave traces on water installations, especially if the total hardness is high.

TOTAL HARDNESS
The test determines the total hardness of the water, which is the sum of dissolved calcium and magnesium. "Hard" water, above 120 ppm (ppm = mg / L) contains high levels of dissolved minerals, which can cause the accumulation of "limescale" on the installations, and the water foams poorly in contact with soap. "Soft" water, below 80 ppm, contains low levels of dissolved minerals and foams well in contact with soap. Hardness below 40 ppm can cause leaching from copper, iron or lead pipes and appliances.

Test performance

  • Dip one end of the dough into a fresh sample of water for 5 seconds. Do not move the leaflet.
  • Remove the test strip and shake it to remove water droplets.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Result oz. compare the color colored on the test strip with the table below.

* Note: If the pH colors on your test strip are lighter, your measured alkalinity is> 200 ppm.

FREE CHLORINE
The test is designed to measure free chlorine in water. For a more accurate result, perform the test as soon as you take a fresh water sample. Free chlorine is the main disinfectant used to prepare / purify water. A content> 2.0 ppm can give the water a bad taste and a characteristic pool odor. The ideal concentration of free chlorine (usually <0.1ppm) kills and neutralizes bacteria and viruses in the water.
* Based on approved EPA method for measuring chlorine (IT'S method D99-003). It is not used to monitor compliance.

- Tap water is 1,000 times cheaper than bottled water.
- Tap water is tested more often and meets higher safety standards than bottled water.
- The production of 1L of bottled water requires 3L of tap water.

Test performance

  • Immerse the dough sheet in a fresh sample of water (50ml) for 20 seconds. Move the leaf left and right evenly.
  • Remove the test strip and shake it to remove water droplets.
  • Wait 20 seconds
  • Result oz. compare the color colored on the test strip with the table below in 15 seconds.

COPPER
The test measures the presence of copper (Cu + and Cu2 +). Copper is not usually present in the city water supply. The main source of copper is pipe corrosion in home systems. Green-blue stains on bathtubs, faucets, sinks… are an indicator of the presence of copper.

The EPA limit of copper presence is 1.3 ppm.

30 miloin bottles a day end up in the environment or oceans
in the US only 5% of bottles are recycled elsewhere is similar
Unlike bottled water, tap water does not taste like plastic.

Test performance

Immerse the test strip in a fresh sample of water (200ml) for 15 seconds. Move the leaf left and right evenly.
Remove the test strip and shake it to remove water droplets. Wait 30 seconds.
Result oz. compare the color colored on the test strip with the table below.
* For easier color / result matching, fold the white cover. This will give you a white background and make the comparison easier and faster.
